Hi there!

I’d like to begin by sharing how I became passionate about singing coaching.

Growing up in a musical household shaped my passion for singing. With my grandmother as a piano teacher, the family has a long history of music so it was only natural I’d follow in those footsteps.

At 13, I went to a concert and made a decision that night I too was going to be a stage performer. I took piano and guitar lessons, started writing songs, playing in school bands and was obsessed with anything music related.

As the next decade went by, I bought electronic equipment, developed my mixing skills and basically achieved a level of proficiency in everything except singing.

I just couldn’t get my voice sounding like I wanted it to.

Maybe this sounds familiar?

In desperation, I took lessons from many different coaches over the years - 14 in total.

Many coaches simply didn’t have the knowledge required to correct my vocal flaws. (Beware the fantastic ‘natural’ singer that never had to learn or work for their voice. They rarely make a great coach).

Eventually, I did become a proficient singer as you can see below. But in the process, I became and expert in technique, vocal analysis, anatomy, physiology and how to coach.

How does the coaching work for you? What makes coming to Vocalpro different?

Since 2011, I have been involved with coaching training by the Estill vocal training model. It’s a global organisation of some of the world’s best voice teachers and voice scientists. Their training is world-class and it’s this training that underpins all my technical knowledge needed to bring excellence and clarity to your session.

This makes your sessions super effective and the opportunity to make the fastest difference to your singing possible.

Finally, I have over four decades of musical experience. Thousands of live performances, thousands of studio hours, and three decades of professional teaching experience. I’ve personally coaches tens of thousands of sessions to over 3000 people.

Vocalpro really brings the science of excellent singing technique, the art form of singing and decades of working with people all together to create a very effective, safe and fun environment for you to work on the most personal of instruments - your voice.

This is why I receive reviews from people like Andre Economou, Concert Pianist and Professor of Music.

“After visiting half a dozen teachers, I was not impressed with the quality & knowledge of teachers, or lack of, until I finally met Paul Sykes at Vocalpro in Berwick. It took a 15 minutes discussion to realise that his knowledge of how vocal chords work and what are the best techniques to improve and cultivate one's voice was second to none. We have been with Paul for over 3 years and my daughter performs in musicals and takes AMEB vocal exams with distinction results. To top it up, Paul is himself an artist and a gentleman with great personality. We are lucky to have found a singing mentor for our daughter.”
